Cloudland Canyon - Requiems Der Natur 2002- 2004 [Tee Pee - 2006]Requiems Der Natur is thick with smoke like psychedelic air, both drifting and heady with night spent waiting for the sunset to come up and bonfires in the woods and waking up on a beech unsure how you got there. This feels like a denser, less hectic Animal collective or maybe a more polished late night session Oliva tremor control. Mumbled stoned layered vocals and weave and hover under and through muilt colured clouds of intresmentasion. Mixing nicely and smearing together instrumental colour and feeling. Still retaining a quirky lo-fi air. Hovering in wonky 60’s pop, jumping into streached rock come ambient lakes. Really wonderful in the way it seems to meld and hum together, it strangely brings to mind moments on cLOUDDEADS debut – not that’s there’s any Hip- hop or rap content here. It just feels the production and vibe has that sort of quirky pot smoke washed out vibe, almost like your hear something from another time. Only downside to this is it’s a collection of tracks spanning a two year period- so it doesn’t really have a full formed album feel- more like a compilation or best of collection. Never the less a worthwhile ticket to drift up to the heavens and back again. Roger Batty
