Fallen Sun - Parallel Disalignment [Fourth Dimension Records - 2025]Parallel Disalignment sits somewhere between more polished/pristine harsh noise and dartingly seared electro-acoustics. It’s the second release from this project, which is the solo venture of Malaysian electronic artist, Y’ng-Yin Siew (Reverse Image). This CD release takes in seven tracks in all, with the pace remaining fairly ear-slicing/searingly shifting throughout, with only the very occasional let-up here & there.
We move from manic scrape ‘n’ hiss meets baying reverbed ‘n’ sci-fi sound effect swoops of “Session 42”. Onto purring grind, searing whips, and shearing gone wrong machine bays of “Session 44”.
In the album's second half, we have the distorted forest field recordings meet ripping, shearing, and manically twittering electro noise flows of “Session 46”. With the thirteen-minute play-out track “Session 47”- putting you through the rapid/ dense tonal shredder, which shifts between hissing grain stretches, forking rips ‘n’ bays, brutally bouncing mids, and seared reverb washes.
If you like the idea of where head-roasting harsh noise meets more academic yet still very seared electro-acoustic texturing, Parallel Disalignment will appeal. Roger Batty
