Elettronica Ultras - -rumore ostile- [Ominous Recordings - 2021]Released in October of last year -rumore ostile- is the fourth release from this seared-yet-densely thick harsh noise project from Switzerland. The release features six around five-minute examples of the noise form, that are both rewardingly constriction and textually active. The release appears on Ominous Recordings- a fairly active & prolific Swedish label that releases work in most sub-genres of noise. It came as either as a c31, or digital version- sadly the physical edition are now all gone- though you can still pick a neat T, that’s linked into this release- to check this out, purchase the digital version, or pick up a shirt head here. Elettronica Ultras is one of the projects of Swiss noise maker AS, who is most known for his nylon fetish-themed, though highly creative walled noise project Anonymous Masturbaudioum. Elettronica Ultras started in 2019, with all four of its releases to date being either tape or CDR releases. It’s a lot less prolific than his most known project, but it still retains the distinctive and creative touches that marks his work out. rumore ostile( meaning hostile noise in English) severs up six tracks in all- three on each side of the tape, with these having simple one word and roman numeral titles. We start off with the five and a half minutes of “parte I” this blends together what sounds like football chants with pelting and juddering static bound mids, and lightly baying & forking sub-tones, which at points hint at the almost harmonic. We have the sustained rolling bass drone that meets the skittering grain of “parte II”, which later on adds in some nicely searing high-end grinds & buried voice tones.
Moving onto the second side- and we have the buffeting sear meets hazed & slightly haunting voice samples of “parte V” which finished off with some effectively jarring high ends shunts. Or the forking meets tunnelling whip ‘n’ bay of the final track “Parte VI”. -rumore ostile- is another highly consistent and creative example of dense harsh noise from AS- and I always look forward to hearing more work from him. It’s a pity this has gone out of print in its tape form, but it’s most certainly well worth checking out in it's digital form. Roger Batty
