DOD CATHEDRAL - Enter The CATHEDRAL [Self release - 2026]Enter The CATHEDRAL sees the very welcome return of Spain’s Damien De Coene(Charles Razeur, Verwelk, Renoffski), who has been absent from the world of walled noise for a few years. This digital release features a single ‘wall’ created by that classic of wall noise tools- a DOD effects pedal. For cover art work, we get a scribbled/skull-lined picture of a gothic church, with black pen on a blood red backdrop. The release can be found here on the project’s Bandcamp.
The single track clocks in at just shy of a thirty-three-minute affair. It finds a tight, taut, and damn brutal blend of constantly churning ‘n’ rolling lows, juddering/ slicing mids, and a jittering wash of smaller grit. Together, these elements create a brutally head-boring- yet oddly comfy ‘wall’- as the lows rattling your eardrums, with mids & gritty rattle pulling you deeper and deeper into the sound.
It certainly is wonderful seeing Mr De Coene creating new wall-work again. This is a consistently brutal, yet appealing ‘wall’- and I do hope we get another release from this project sooner rather than later!. Roger Batty
