Pasta Club/Olion - Split [HNW Netlabel - 2026]Here’s a wall-noise split between New Orleans Pasta Club and Poland’s Olion. Both tracks roll in at around the fifteen-minute mark, with each having a fairly thick, though different takes on this most extreme form of sound. This digital-only release appears on the UK’s HNW Netlabel, which is, of course, run/ Curated by long-term wallnoise scenester James Sherman. For the release's artwork, we have a decidedly murky/contrast-heavy picture of a building locked, roofed courtyard.
Both tracks are untitled, and first out of the bag is a track from scene newcomer Pasta Club. The track mixes thickly rattling & crustily baying ‘wall’- with a undercarriage of these subtly shifting/ largely faintly heard elements- taking in warping swipes, rolling aquatic, twittering mid-to-high-pitched noise weaves, and even touches of shitfolk vocal baying- all of which nicely pull you in. Towards the latter part of the track, these underlying elements get more active/ louder in the mix, adding a sheared, woozy, psychedelic harsh noise feel to the track.
Next/ lastly, we have Olion’s track- this project has been active since the early 2020’s, keeping up a fairly even release pattern. The track here brings together a constant rolling ‘n’ rattling low-end churn, which is topped with crisper/ smaller jittering textures. It feels akin to lying on dusty ground, as a large motorised plough goes back and forth over you, with its blend of larger/ slower churning parts, and more rapid smaller elements. The deeper tones creating ragging moodiness, and the smaller elements keep you hooked. It’s a great ‘wall’ which I could easily have played for at least an hour.
So this is a decent split- with both parties offering up a rewarding/ entrancing wall- to check out the release for yourself, drop by here. Roger Batty
