JUANITO)))) - Ohrensuppe [Dyning Monolith HNW - 2026]Ohrensuppe presents the listener with two slabs of densely searing and audio nerve-slicing walled noise. Each 'wall' runs around the thirty-minute mark, and each is equally dense and crudely gnarly. The JUANITO)))) is from Barcelona, Spain- it’s been active since, I believe, the early 2020’s. For some reason, I always thought of it as a project that did a lot of splits- though recently it’s done a few standalone albums, with Ohrensuppe, been one of these.
First out of the bag, we have the title track. Here we find a low-end buck ‘n’ bay meeting this rapid swirling 'n' slicing texture. The bucking and baying element feels nicely crude and nasty, while the second element feels decidedly aquatic, yet at the same time rather macabre/ bloody.
The second track is entitled “Bone Broth”. Here we find the blending of a manically rushing sear and this rapid blood ‘n’ bile down the plug hole swirl. Again, there’s a feeling of both fiercely crude intensity and macabre disquiet about this track.
I’ll have to admit that JUANITO))))'s work in the past had rather just passed me by, unfairly bracketing it just as run-of-the-mill. But I must say Ohrensuppe has made me sit up and take notice- if you like were dense ‘n’ rapid meets uneasy ‘n’ bloody, give this a go!. The release can be found here. Roger Batty
