Chantal - B [Muzikaal Kabaal - 2012]“B” is the second release of dense ‘n’ muffled HNW from this Netherlands based project. Behind Chantal is Jelle Koning- who also runs the great HNW and experimental label Muzikaal Kabaa, and is also behind the Harsh noise/ HNW project Ikodora '65. The project takes it’s name from Jelle’s female mannequin, and as with the first release by this project this CDR features on it’s front cover an photo portrait of an unknown female teenager. The single self title track on offer here comes in at spot on the thirty three minute mark, and it’s ‘wall’ is built around a dense 'n' smothering mixture of droning fairly lose sounding yet thick rumbling noise, which is ribbed by a line of thinner static toned jittering bound noise. Like the projects first release there’s a oddly soothing ‘n’ pleasing muffling vibe running through this whole track- it’s like if the track was a physical object you’d like lie & press your head/ears into it’s huge & endless mass….getting total submerge in it’s texture. For the most part the track feels fairly fixed in it’s two main textures, yet it never get’s tired or boring as you just seem to fall deeper & deeper under the track muffled rumble bound spell. With out a doubt this is as good as the projects first release “A”, and I really can’t wait to hear the next sonic chapter from this project….. so if you dig muffled ‘n’ dense walled noise that’s damn moorish this is a must!.
