Boar - Family Meeting [Zvukovina - 2011]

“Family Meeting” presents the listener with three shots of heavy hitting yet creative & varied walled noise matter from this always rewarding Iowa based HNW project- the projects all the work of one Alex Nowacki(Centuries Behind A Gate & Phantom Rib).

The release features two mid-length walls which come in between fourteen & fifteen minute mark, and one thirty minute track to end off proceedings. First up we have a track entitled “Bedwetter” which comes in at the 14.01 mark, this tracks built around a mixture of two or possible three layers of juddering noise tone & one billowing drone noise tone. The track alternates between the juddering noise tones sliding through each other, and brief dwells in just two tone noise attack- but for the most part it’s a moorish & fairly brain twisting slice of walled noise matter.

Track two is entitled “The Art Of Chewing” & comes in at dead on the 15.00 mark. And boy is this one very nasty & intense slice of grating and shifting walled noise- the tracks built around a high pitched grating/ forking texture that’s sunk into this churning & locked ‘ship deck creaking’ static noise texture. The track some how mangers to mix great shrill urgency with  hypnotic and almost textured ambient HNW underbelly- simply put a pretty amazing feat & a damn great track.

Lastly we have “Psycho Breeding” and this of course  is the longest track here at spot on the 30.00 mark.  The track is a taut, urgent and shifting mixture of juddering and jittering yet interlocking static textures, which Nowacki forms into a great surrounding and detailed wall of  static texturing that’s alive with rewarding and addictive textural detail. The track remains very focused and taut through-out, yet Nowacki effortlessly shifts from one textural noise pattern to the next with out breaking or losing the tracks urgent  yet highly rewardingly detailed textural warping.

“Family meeting” offers up three varied & highly rewarding pieces of well thought-out & controlled walled noise. This is with out doubt some of the finest work of Boars career thus far, and thankfully you should still be able to get hold of a copy as it’s been pressed in an edition of 50 copies( 25 tape & 25 CDR). Unmissble stuff really
