Whore's Breath - The Incident [Dyning Monolith HNW - 2026]The Incident is a dense, taut and tense example of the walled noise form with unsettling underbelly. The thirty-minute track from Cincinnati’s Whore’s Breath managers to create an effectively airless & uneasy vibe, which prevails throughout the track's length. The release is a digital-only affair, released by South Carolina’s Dying Monolith HNW. For cover artwork, we get a rather troubling, difficult to define whether it’s faeces or blood splatter pattern-based picture. The release can be found here
The single thirty-minute track tautly binds together a bass-bound rumbling roll, continuous hissing grain fest, a distant uneven tumble, and a few cluttering/ searing subtones. Together, these create a very full & suffocating ‘wall’, that really conjures up some very disturbing being carried out, with some form of bodily fluid or another.
The release title & artwork truly adds to the sense of unease/ unsettlement- with the ‘wall’ totally clinching one's attention in its blend of rewarding textural blend, and the air of trouble-ment.
The Incident is yet more proof of why Whore’s Breath is one of the most notable and consistent projects working into today's wall noise scene. If you enjoy your ‘walls’ where tense & unease meet- this is a must check out. Roger Batty
