Boar/Oblive/I Like You Go Home - Split [Breaching Static - 2010]

This Three way CDR split brings together a track a piece from three USA HNW acts Boar,Oblive & I Like You Go Home. The disc was original put out to promote/celebrate the three way tour the trio of acts undertook in the winter of 2010/2011 across several US states.

First up we have an untitled twenty one minute track from Iowa based Boar. The track starts out nicely full 'n' extreme with a great thick and muffled cloud of scrubbing and churning noise matter, and ever so often the ‘wall’  gets smarted by small high pitched twists and pinches. As we move towards the tracks five minute mark the 'wall' seems to become more of a descending judder and rapid churn and you just get sucked deeper and deeper into the fierce yet moorish maelstrom of sound. The rest of the track sees Boar Subtly shift the main tone from judder, to churn, to blown-out static bass jittering, through to crusty and battering static pattern locks.  Though ever so often you still get the odd higher pitched smart of pitched tone appearing in the wall. All told  the tracks a great, subtly shifting and brutally moorish start to the split.

Up next we have an just shy of twenty minute track from Missouri based Oblive. The track starts out with a just over a minute  movie sample of either someone having a fight or a mental break down, before letting out a near death moan as their hit over the head with some glass. When the ‘wall’  kicks in it’s a battering and billow mixture of bass judder and smaller/locked jittering static patterns. The track has a great meaty, urgent, and down  ‘n’ dirty feel about it- with the ‘wall’ remaining fixed yet enjoyable through out it’s running time.

So last up we have new HNW/ harsh noise act; the bizarrely entitled I like you go home. Sadly I can’t seem to find where this project comes from as the project Myspace page listed on the release is dead(much like many myspace pages!). Anyway the track featured here is called “The Colour of My Life” and it comes in at just over fourteen minute mark. The track starts out with layers of crusty noise textures running and juddering into each other, then around the three and a half minute mark this spacey and brutally reverb texture comes screaming out of the track. As the track goes on it remains constant and forgiven, but ever so often a new crusty juddering or spacey mid-tone drilling tone takes centre stage.  I wouldn’t call this track purely HNW; it’s more a thick harsh noise track with wallish dwells. It’s an ok track, but I just wish it stayed a little be longer on some of the elements/textures.

So this three way split offers up two great and consistent slices of HNW from Boar and Oblive, and one so-so excise in Harsh noise meets HNW breeding from new project I Like You Go Home.
