Ela Vuk - Welcome To The Standard Nightmare III:Malfunction [Zvukovina - 2010]

This C60 tape offers up two side long tracks of raging static grain battering and seared walled noise texturing  that’s abused/corrupted by noise chains and malefaction bound tape recorders . Ela Vuk is a female noise artist from Sarajevo whose most know for been part of harsh junk noise duo Idlness Distribution with N. Smrznik and helping run the Zvukovina label.

The first sides untitled track is a unrelenting and crushingly thick mixture of seared white static texturing and brutal noise feasting that sounds like a mountain of television all set on static with their volumes knobs turned up to max. Ever so often through out the track another layer of static searing is added to the mass of sound- for a few moments you make out this new elements shape and texture then it’s engulfed in the mass of sound once more. This first side makes for an appealingly pure and battering thirty minute wall of sound which nicely encases you in it’s raging and pure static form.

The second sides untitled track starts out with noisy tape machine reeling texture that’s battering and corrupting the main and loud swirling mass of juddering 'n' batter static noise. As the track progresses the reeling texture dies down, but the track still remains very unsettled and corrupted with it’s sea of static noise been attacked by all manner of jitter, judder, batter and violent swirl. This side as a whole feels a lot more unstable and damage in its wall of static compared with the first side.

This is my first taster of Ms Vuk’s work, and I must say I'm rather taken by the corrupted and swirled wall masses of sound she unfolds on both sides of this c60. I look forward to hearing more of her work in the future, and it’s great to see another female doing noise and in particular doing HNW.
