Sepentina Satélite - Nothing To Say [Trip In Time - 2008]Peru based Sepentina Satélite make epic spacey and psychedelic rock scapes based around guitar, bass and drums. Nothing to say is thier debut full length after an ep a few years back –it’s also the first release on New label Trip In Time. I guess the sound is best described as a mixture of later day Boris at their most psychedelic rock scaping, a cleaner/leaner Acid Mother Temple, Krautrock riff locks, 70’s space rock and the odd touch of shoe gazing indie expansiveness, thrown in for good measure. As for vocal elements there of the spacey sort of echoed talky type & some of the tracks surprisingly(considering their from Peru) have oriental like vocals as well. But the main focus here is of course the rock riff which Sepentina Satélite nicely revolve around your head, building up and let down, & even at times groove with the interlocking guitar scaping and pounding drums. Sure this isn’t reinventing the wheel, but there’s a nice melodic, spacey and pounding urgency about the album even on it’s last epic 23 minute track Commune 1. If you dig expanding and hypnotic spacey & psychedelic rock it’s certainly worth checking out Sepentina Satélite. An enjoyable, spacey and lively debut from both band and label. Roger Batty
