CORR//PT│0N_UN1T - S7ATU5_4ND_ID3NTIF!C4TION:FR4ME [Self release - 2025]This is another two-track release from this Calgary, Alberta wall noise project. Each of the fifteen-minute track mixes crude-yet-detailed texturing with sombre to atmospheric elements, which vaguely hint at harmony. This EP/ short album is a digital release- it’s a self-released affair. The release's artwork is somewhat cryptic, showing a 1980s computer screen full of a large block of numbers. It can be downloaded here
First up, we have “M3S$4GE_REC#IV#D.+AN4LYS;S” this finds a blend of bass purring, mid-range slice ‘n’ juddering, and rattling static pitch. Underneath this is a rapidly played church organ tone- at points it hints at stern melody, though mostly paints a formal yet semi-brooding atmosphere. The elements are mixed perfectly, so you can just make out both the textual detail and the organs flow.
The other track here is “ACT10N:N3ED#D.:\\MES$4GE_$3NT”. This is built around a muffled & slightly bucked-up blend of bass purr, static grain flow, and juddering rip- with later on forays into more buffing and weathered textural fare. Weaved through this is a warbling pitch up & jittering robot tone, which once again hints at moments of harmony/melody, but is largely used to create an eerie and cold retro tech vibe.
This is the second release I’ve checked out from CORR//PT│0N_UN1T 1. And once again, this is some of the more creative/ well-crafted material I’ve heard from within the wall noise scene of late- So it's well worth a look, if you enjoyed the more progressive/ moody side of the genre.
