CORR//PT│0N_UN1T - ROT7EN_Q//AR@NTINED_N37W0RK [Self release - 2025]Here’s a two-track digital release, Calgary, Alberta’s CORR//PT│0N_UN1T- each track runs at the twenty-minute mark, and each is a journey into busy & detailed walled noise. The CORR//PT│0N_UN1T project has seemingly been active since January of this year, releasing seven releases- seemingly all of their release are themed around corrupted computer tech.
So first up, we have “ENDL3S5:BR04DC4$T_L0OP”- this ‘wall’ is built around a blend of rapid rolling judder, hissing slide ‘n’ hack, and cluttering chalky descent. As you play the track, your mind is darting from first one pattern to the next, to try and chart it accurately- sometimes you do, but more often than not, you lose the flow you were following- so it’s certainly a wall that keeps you on your toes. Also, from time to time, it feels like the patterns will suddenly/subtly shift off, but I suspect this is just a trick of the ‘wall’.
The second track here is “R3[//R#IVE+RE#PON5E_H3ADER”. Here we find a mix of this distant/ continentally metal on metal tolling, uneven/ slightly rattling purring noise roll, and some crisp batting back and forth textural detail. There’s a great sense of both awkwardness/ feeling it’s going to suddenly stop quilty about this track. The patterns aren’t as complex as the first track, but there is a rather original selection of textures on display here.
ROT7EN_Q//AR@NTINED_N37W0RK is my first taster of this project's work, and I must say I was impressed with what I've heard- as there is thought gone into creating engaging ‘walls that are either pattern entrancing, or texturally rewarding. Drop in here to check it out Roger Batty
