Manja Ristić - Him, fast sleeping, soon he found In labyrinth of [Mappa - 2022]Manja Ristic is a violinist, composer, improvisational musician, multimedia artist, sound researcher and who in 2004, founded of the Association of Multimedia Artists ‘Auropolis’. Born in Beograd, Serbia, in 1979, Ristic currently moves between her home city and Korčula (Croatia). Her work weaves together electroacoustic and field recordings, with Him, Fast Sleeping, Soon He Found In Labyrinth Of Many A Round, Self Rolled being her latest, and twelfth album. Where we find deep minimalistic ambient, fused with drones, field recordings and violin.
Within the album's minimal sonic approach, Ristic employs simple tools and techniques. The sound is monolithic yet delicate. It feels like a narration broken into pieces, with each of them depicting a natural landscape or habitat, separated or part of each other. The sonic action takes place and is interpreted by the listening experience. It's storytelling of an abstract nature, heavily based on handpicked field recordings, beautiful and tranquil, either in motion or static. The fragments are put together with love and care, each of them in its own conscious state and alignment.
Within Him, Fast Sleeping, Soon He Found In Labyrinth Of Many A Round, Self-Rolled, textures and aesthetics are constantly interchanging. The slow pace and the interconnected atmospheres are homogenized into a peculiar venture to dream-like spaces, and masterfully conceived. A quitely vibrant album above all! Karl Grümpe
