RDKPL - Color Noise Wall [Gates Of Hypnos - 2026]Color Noise Wall brings together three around ten-minute walls from this Czech project. As its title suggests, there is textual variety between each track. Cover artwork for this digital release is surprisingly colourful/ buoyant for a wall release- taking in a from-above shot of various chopped up fruit and veg in a busy mass. So something a little different, though the ‘walls’ here aren’t as varied as the picture suggests. It can be found here
First up is “260310_03”, here we find a blend of rapid & constantly rolling storm-like rattle, bay, and rumble, which is topped by this gritty grain scrub. It feels like you're watching a huge-mouthed beast getting its teeth cleared again and again.
Next is “260310_04”, here we find a more muffled blend of mid-paced rumble and knock, which is topped by this constant flowing stream of slightly rough wave-bound churn. The track manages to feel both mechanical and organic- and I could have easily listened to this ‘wall’ for up to an hour, as the blend is quite original/distinct, and at times I almost get the sense of a distant groove/rhythm about the whole thing. Later on, we get this neat, reeling rod-like sound blended into the ‘wall’.
Finally, we have “260310_05 “. This is the most active of the three, initially it switches between a blend of rapidly baying buffeting and squiggle-yet crisp tone scrab, and all-out baying and buffeting. Later on, we move into a blend of wider flame-like bays, rapid fabric-like rattle, and hiss buffets.
I enjoyed Color Noise Wall well enough- though going from the cover art, and title, I was expecting something a little more varied/ out there regarding the textures used/ wall-shifts. Roger Batty
