Vomir - Welcome To Exit [Fanasty 1 - 2022]

Welcome To Exit is a new slab of enchasing sonic nihilism from French HNW king Vomir. The CDR release takes in a single twenty-eight-minute ‘wall’, which is all about locked shredding ‘n’ churning noisemaking- that effectively blocks out the world around you.

The release appears on Rose Hill Texas-based Fantasy 1- apparently, the CDR comes presented in a slim-line DVD case, with inserts, but I can’t comment on this as I’m reviewing a digital promo of the release. The cover artwork seems to be solid black, with minimal white texts. The physical release has an edition of fifty copies- and at present copies are still available  here

The single self-titled track comes in at the 28.48 mark. And the ‘wall’ is built around a dragged-out ‘n’ ragged bass like noise drone, this bayed on by a cluttering ‘n’ feasting mid-range static tone. The textures are fed together in that classic crude, yet still defined Vomir manner- so each is clearly mapped in your mind, yet we get some nice effective audio tricky going-on, like the textures seemingly shifting from the back to the front, speed-ups & downs, and points where one texture seems to grind into other- none of these are really occurring, and this is set mass of weighty sound. Visual/ mood rise I’m getting walking around a barely standing/ floorboard broken house, in the middle of a lashing cold rainstorm, as the raw wind batters & buffets both your face and head.

Welcome To Exit is another great example of Vomir’s wall-noise craft, with a good blend of effective textures, which are fed together to create a numbingly compelling example of the genre. It’s nice to see some psychical product in the scene again- so please do support this release, as the wall noise scene at present is getting a to weighed down with just digital releases!.
