Illwisher severs up a moodily rewarding mixture of churning ‘n’ droning noise texturing, and faint foghorn-like ambient bob. It’s a track that’s on the cusp of walled noise and ANW, with a nice undercurrent of eeriness added in for great effect.

The release appears on up & coming Uk based wall noise label Death To Dynamics. It comes in the form of a digital download and features a simple but effective cover featuring a ropy and unwell vulture in a tree- which nicely nods towards the tracks blend of slow-yet-eager feeding, and foreboding blood scented unease. Reaching Needles is from Ottawa, Ontario- and as far as I can gather is a fairly new project, with the projects Bandcamp only listing three other digital releases, and they have no enters on discogs either. And I must say if this is a new project, I’m rather impressed by what’s on offer here- as it’s a good shot of more atmospheric wall matter.

The single self-titled track featured here comes in at the 30.10 mark. And it’s built around a blend of the following layers- a rather muffled droning ‘n’ churning mid, a thinner ratting ‘n’ baying, and this distant but constantly foghorn-like billow. These elements are brought together as compelling wall- that nicely balance blunt sort of industrial-like churning, stark texturing slug, and broodingly subtle ambient underbelly. I could easily have listened to this track for another half an hour or so- so in conclusion a worthy wall.

It's always nice to see new projects coming into the scene, and I must say I’m impressed with what I’ve heard on Illwisher. I’m certainly looking forward to hearing more from Reaching Needles- if you like the more grimly atmospheric, though slightly industrial-focused side of the wall genre- you most certainly be needing to check out this release!.
