Le Bambole Di Velluto - Blutige Seide [Archivio Audio Anonimo - 2017]Le Bambole Di Velluto started in 2015 as a strictly sample-less HNW project of Swiss based noise maker Anto M; most know for Anonymous Masturbaudioum- his Feet and Legs/ Nylon Stockings fetish themed project. Blutige Seide is a recent double CDR release on his own label Archivio Audio Anonimo, and if offers up a selection of subtle shifting & cleverly textured wall-craft, with now the occasional addition of samples. The pro-pressed & labelled CDR’s come in a single-sided colour inlay. This features a film still of a women been grabbed around the neck by a red light soaked mannequin, the women’s expression is mysterious & slightly sexual provocative- this is set against a main black back drop with minimal white & red texts. I don’t recognise the film my self, but I’m guessing by the look of the still it’s a 60’s/ 70’s giallo.
As far as I recall this is the first full-length release I’ve heard from this project- I liked & enjoyed the three way split Black Necro Cabaret, which saw Le Bambole Di Velluto, along side Gamiani & Toilet Venders. And of course I’m a big fan of Anonymous Masturbaudioum- so I was keen to check this out. And from the outset, it’s clear it’s a Anto M project, due to the keen ear for detailed & clever static texturing- though it clearly sounds different in it’s sonic feel & themes to stand alone as a project away from Anonymous Masturbaudioum.
Disc one takes in four fifteen( or near) minute tracks, and disc two we get three tracks- which run between ten & thirty minutes. All of the tracks are seemingly untitled- as there are no listed on the package, and I can’t find any track listings online.
So first up on disc one we have "Untitled One"- it starts out with a blend of mangled 'n' seared voice sample burst & roasting noise thick-ness. Fairly swiftly we moving into a super taut blend of grey billowing tunnel like noise, which is tightly meshed by layers of crackle- we have coarse & rip like, to thinner & more jitter bound, to more grainy & stinging. Anto skilful weaves the ‘wall’ through a series of subtle & perfectly controlled shifts- with out ever lose the flow, tension, or reward of the whole thing. "Untitled Two" begins as a blend of spoke like texturing cluttering, and an undercarriage of subterranean droning & bleakly rushing. It sounds akin to been stuck inside a thin tunnel, as stinging & pelting winter rain hammers down outside. As the tracks progresses Anto nicely & cleverly adjust the flow of cluttering element- going from slightly splintered & coarsely barded, onto snapping & subtle popping, though to more hissing bound, muffled & hacking.
Moving onto the second disc, and "Untitled Five" is the longest track here at 30.03. This opens as a full, though clearly layered blend of constantly flowing roasting noise rush-this is topped by slowly undulating crust that moves from dense crackling, cascading cluttering, and seared sputtering. At moments it feels like it may pare right back down, but it never does as Anto sends first one subtle different layer after another over the constant seared flow of the track. In the last quarter we get quite effective & initially jarring chucks of mangled dialogue samples- but these are fairly sparse. All told it’s a great slice of dense yet layer apt wall-making.
"Untitled Six" is the most shifting & complex track here- over its fourteen minutes it moves from detailed weaves of scarping, slashing & cold pelting texturing. Onto blends of complex icily slices, with reseeding & increasing webs of metallic chopping, angular pelting and jittering grain. It’s a breath taking bit of static texturing- putting Anto on the same level as great textural masters like The Rita, or some of Richard Ramirez more nuanced & crafted work.
In finishing Blutige Seide highlights once again Anto’s talent as both a wall maker & a talented noise texture sculptor- as I mentioned early on this project managers to stand well away from the Anonymous Masturbaudioum’s work- having it’s own distinctive feel & vibe. So I very much looking forward to both check out the projects back catalogue, and future work.
