No Fun HNW - Insect Movements [Basement Corner Emission - 2026]Insect Movements balances murky roll, with constantly punishing battering. The single-track wall noise release slides in at just under the half-hour mark and remains both full/ fixed throughout. No Fun HNW is one of the projects of South Carolina-based Krys Marshall, who in the last few years has become one of the most active/prolific figures in the wall scene. With this and his other projects being focused on creating the most crude/ gnarly/ nasty in the walled noise.
The ‘wall’ is built on a distant/ fairly faint rolling low-end flow. On top of this, we have this constantly battering/ hammering on a metal barrage. Together, these elements create a rapid battering attack. Personally, I’m not sure I’m hearing anything insect-like about it, to me it feels more akin to being thrown down a long, rock-strewn hill, in a side of a wood and steel strip-lined barrel. Sure, it’s maybe not the most original/distinctive thing I’ve heard from Mr Marshall, but if you're after no nonsense/ mask out the rest of the world noise- this will do the trick.
This digital-only release on Portland's Basement Corner Emissions. Drop by here to check out for yourself -if you’re after an out-and-out sonic battering. I wanted to give this a two and a half mark, but as we only do whole numbers, I’ve gone for a two. Roger Batty
