Radwan Moumneh & Frédéric Oberland - Eternal Life No End [Constellation - 2026]Eternal Life No End is a truly inspired sonic collusion between traditional Arabic instrumentation/ melody, and moody electronica. With traditional instrumentation and vocal chants moving alongside buzzing, juddering, and brooding electronics. The seven tracks featured on this album were worked on & perfectly homed over a two-year period by collaborators Radwan Moumneh (Jerusalem In My Heart) and Frédéric Oberland (Oiseaux-Tempête).
We move from “Dagger Eyes” which blends buzzing and brooding synth drone, warbling electro melody line with traditional chanting/ singing, steady tablar drum pitter, and twanging Arabic string work. Onto “The Serpent” which mixes Depeche Mode like purring synth brood ‘n’ beats, with vocoder set chanting- wavering between cold electro moodiness & emotional simmered wonder.
Later on, “A Dream That Never Arrived” mixes mournful Arabic horn work with buttering ‘n’ battering beats, and warblingly hazed electro ambience. With the album playing out with “Walked And Walked” which melds drifts of haunting horn tones with steadily swirling sways of moody electro ebb and flow.
To say I was well and truly bowled over by Eternal Life No End is an understatement- it’s a near-perfect blend of the ancient and moodily modern. One of 2026’s big surprises, and a must for anyone who enjoys atmospheric/ emotional felt genre blending. Roger Batty
