Vomir - Murderous Passion Is Nylon Seclusion [Signora Ward Records - 2015]From late 2015 this C30 release is Vomir’s take the now rather over-populated HNW subgenre of feet & nylon-themed walled noise. The release appeared in either a physical form, or a digital download- the tape version is now long gone, but you can still download it from the labels band camp site. The physical version features a black & label-less cassette. This comes in an oversized A5 plastic sleeve, which features fold-out & color double sided artwork of a tattooed person(presumably female) in a bra & suspenders, lying on a bed with a black bag over their head. Also on this fold-out we minimal purple texts against a plain black background. And lastly a sticker featuring a black & white picture of a pair of nylon clad legs, and the word vomir in black ink.
The tape features a track aside of tape, and these are simply titled “Murderous Passion Is Nylon Seclusion I & II”. The first sides ‘wall’ is a crude ‘n’ nasty blend of the following: a slightly swaying-yet- set billowing, a collection of descending & similarly toned crust bound judders, a thinner rushing static grain, and selection of small knocking & murkily aquatic rushing. Each layer is seemingly running at different speeds, so of course this creates the feeling that there are shifts in the sea of sound- but of course, in reality, this is very much set wall-craft.
Flipping over to side B, and part II. We get a fairly similar( and very possibly identical) wall. The only possible slight differences between the two sides are the addition of more knocking & rushing textures to the ‘walls’ mass. But this maybe is my mind just trying to find differences here, and in reality, they are just the same.
As Vomir release go it’s sonically fairly standard, though worthy enough in its dense yet- bluntly crude rush. The packaging is fairly interesting, and the pictures of the black bagged body are suitable unsettling. So certainly one for the Vomir collector to hunt down in physical form, and for anyone else I’m sure the download will do. Roger Batty
