Go to the Fear Falls Burning website  Fear Falls Burning - First by a whisper, then by a storm [ - 2005]

Fear falls burning is the new project of Dirk Serries, aka VidnaObmana. However, the music is not to be compared.

First by a whisper, then by a storm is an exclusive self-released tour-CD distributed exclusively by Conspiracy Records. The first proper full-length will be a double CD, to be released next summer on Ikon, Serries very own label.

The music was performed and recorded on guitar and effects in real time, without editing or overdubs. And this direct to tape attitude doesn’t undermine one bit the quality of the sounds.

Of course, Serries is not a newcomer when it comes to working on sounds, so the overall quality of the product shouldn’t surprise anyone. Quite clearly, Fear falls burning is an ambient guitar project. Based on drones, most often soothing, rarely as harsh as bands like Sunn can be. This reminds me of Labradford and Stars of the Lid or of lesser known artists such as Matt Borghi or Jeff Pearce.

This is really good, dreamlike music and it should prove very interesting indeed to keep an eye on this new project.
