Vomir / Superror - Vomir / Superror [Geräuschmanufaktur - 2015]This C40 is the second split release that has occurred between French wall noise master Vomir, and Austrian based HNW/Harsh noise project Superror. The pro labelled tape comes in a single sided inlay shelve that takes in murky & dull pictures of what looks like densely painted walls, or amassed grimy patterns. This is topped off with minimal & stark white texts. The release comes in an edition of 35 copies. So on the first side we have a untitled Vomir track, and this is fairly standard,( through no less effective) crude & searing walled noise fare from this project. It’s a simply, dense & unmoving blend of two main textures: a rapid ‘n’ rotating billowing drone, and this is tightly weaved with fainter rattling static grain. These elements run together in a complete unchanging mass, and ‘yes’ it’s neither creative or fresh in it’s use of textures- but it is both intense & oddly pleasing ( in a overloaded/ tortuous way). So flipping over to side two & we have the Superror track- once again this another untitled affair. It opens fairly pared back with a mix of distant wind textures, and stretched out & melancholic like honking mouth organ. With-in three or so minutes the sonic picture has thickened up & we move into a mix of almost groove like buzzing bass noise, which is weaved with several layers of mechanical like locked down churnings- ever so often you get sears of moody noise stretchers shifting over the sound mass. I guess you’d say this was ‘wall-ish’ like industrial tinged noise drone. It remains fair thick & dense through-out, with it thinning down in a few places for the moody harmonica stretches & eerier textural like bounces. So as splits go this rewarding enough- with the Vomir’s crude, overloaded, and unchanging wall, nicely contrasting with Superror more mechanical tinged noise drone track. Roger Batty
