Cannibal Ritual - Nudo e selvaggio [Claustrophilia - 2013]
Nudo e selvaggio (English translation Wild & Nude) is a two track CDR release from late 2013, and it offers up two slices crude ‘n’ depraved cannibal movie themed HNW from this infamous German project.
The CDR comes in a light blood red DVD case, which takes in a full colour sleeve that features a college of cannibal & soft core movie stills. Also with the set you get a piece of scored wood(!?) featuring the projects name sprayed painted on it, as well a code to download a copy of the projects comeback release Return Of The Shamatari(reviewed here)
The two tracks on offer here are fairly run-of-the-mill nasty, lo-fi & crude examples of walled noise- so if you’ve heard any of this projects work already you pretty much know what to expect here. Each of the two untitled tracks come in around the twenty minute mark, and each track is a fixed, simply built & unrelenting slice of walled noise.
The first track is built around a mid-speed ragged ‘n’ locked juddering, which is underfed by a constantly rolling ‘n’ grimly purring static wash. I guess you’d say the whole thing has quite a crude & lo-fi chainsaw like feel & repetition to it- through it’s all very simply built & conceived there is a certainly rough ‘n’ ready hypnotic charm to the track.
The second track is no great departure from the first track, the ‘wall’ is built around a locked yet slightly spluttering lo-fi juddering that is underfed by a continual flow of rapidly chopping bass focused noise. Again the make-up & execution of the track is simplistic, yet once again there is a brutally hypnotic & crude charm to the whole thing.
So if you enjoy lo-fi, no-nonsense, crude & fixed old school walled noise "Nudo e selvaggio" could well fit the bill. The release came in an edition of 25 copies, and as far as I can see the label still has copies.
