Vomir - Wall Upholstery [Category III Recordings - 2012]This CDR from The king of Crusty ‘n’ Crude unmoving HNW has a rather surprising & un-grim theme behind it. It’s a tribute to 1970’s glam rock horror movie "Phantom of the Paradise", which mixed together the stories of “Phantom of the Opera" ,"Faust" and "The Picture of Dorian Gray” into a campy shot of horror fed fun. Thankfully there’s nothing campy or fun about the track enclosed here, as it’s another battering yet entrancing slice of walled noise from Vomir. The track on offer here comes in at the 27.15 mark. The ‘wall's’ a mid-paced & huge sounding mix of fixed rumbling back drone, which is played over by a mass of set yet violently jittering muffled ‘n’ meaty dense ripped static. The track seems hammer & batter away at you a like a force ten storm trapped inside a vast sewer- with the noise elements meeting together to cause a head spinning maelstrom of brutal sound patterns. So to sum-up “Wall Upholstery” has a rather bizarre & surprising theme, but the tracks another very brutal & effective slice of HNW from Vomir. Roger Batty
