Vomir - Recycled [RRRecords - 2011]This c30 tape finds the French master of crusty ‘n’ unrelenting walled noise releasing his wares on Usa based RRRecords which is ran and sonically curated by one of the godfarthers of the USA noise scene Ron Lessard. The Recycled series is one of the most popular and long running sub labels/series on RRRecords- it's been running since 1991. Each release in the series is taped on old cassettes of pop and rock music, so in some case the originally audio elements are still audible (but un-surprisingly not in this case). The tapes themselves are labelled with a simple strip of adhesive tape(yellow in this case) along the spine of the insert with the artist's name hand-written upon it and "Recycled" as title. The series has seen releases from the likes of: Aube, Merzbow,The Haters, Wolf Eyes, The Rita, Richard Ramirez, The Cherry Point, John Wiese, Prurient and beyond. Each side of tape here offers up an untitled side long track of typically battering & crusty HNW from the French black bag wearing master of the form. Side A’s track is an urgent, mid-paced thick ‘n’ sleazed judder that sounds like the unrelenting and chugging gush of aged sewage pump spurting out gallons of faeces and urine into a rusted tin lined room. Side B’s track offers up a more muffled ‘n’ hazily galloping billow meets suffocating judder. This sides ‘wall’ certainly finds Vomir at his most lo-fi and crusty with at times the two noise elements seemingly mushing ‘n’ toxically merging into each other the create this free flowing current of pure sonic flith. So “Recycled” finds Vomir as battering, crusty and unrelenting as ever- it’s another brutal yet enjoyable sonic brick in the vast and ever growing discography of this highly respected HNW artist.
