Vomir - Untitled(c39) [Prairie Fire - 2010]This is another “untitled” release from the French master of crusty, brutal and unchanging HNW. And this was original released back in April of last year on the canadian Prairie Fire label. On offer here is a c39 that features two side long slices of raging, locked and crushing HNW done only the way vomir can. Side ones ‘wall’ is a mid-paced bass lined judder with blown-out crusty static edges that at times almost feels like they could drag the track to a complete stop; yet it never does stop or break in it’s enraged yet pained attack. Side twos ‘wall’ starts out very muffled and stark with a crusty two or three tone static judder, then at just over the minute mark the 'wall' becomes more clear and brutal, giving a feeling akin to when you ears have just popped (I’m not sure if this is a error in my copy or it’s meant to be this way). Anyway the rest of the ‘wall’ stays in the same place with this quite appealing, slightly cluttering and semi lose sounding wall of juddering mid-tone noise with smaller jittering and buzzing static moments coming off it. So to summing up the tape....on side one we have a rather standard example of a Vomirs ‘wall making- it's crusty, nasty and unchanging. And on side two we have a rather more appealing and cluttering ‘wall’, that’s still doesn’t move too far from Vomir’s brutal template but for me is the more rewarding of the two sides on offer here.
