Vomir & Absence.Insolution - The Heart Devour [Pigdurt - 2011]“The Heart Devour” is a caustic and brutal 3inch cdr split that brings togeather French black bag wearing master of unchanging HNW Vomir. And Atlanta, Georgia based noise/ HNW project Absence.Insolution( aka Nicholas Ender who also runs the Pigdurt lable) First up we have the untitled Vomir track which is the longer of the two tracks here at just under the twelve minute mark. The “wall” on offer here is fairly standard Vomir fare- i.e. very brutal, unchanging and crusty, the tracks built around a mid–paced juddering and slightly roving noise wall which nicely churns ‘n’ grinds through your head in an unmoving and totally unforgiving manner. The ‘wall’ has quite a nice throaty and roaring motorbike like chug and purr in it’s guts which is rather appeal, and on the whole the track passers by in a pleasingly crusty, nasty and suffocating manner. Next up is of course the Absence.Insolution track which is once more untitled, and it comes in at just under the nine minute mark. This track is more stripped, sleazed and slowly searing than the vomir track- the 'walls' built around a sinister droning ‘n’ rolling noise curl and electro judder, which is underfed by smaller locked static jitter patterns. These two elements are fed over each other in a effective and atmospheric stop/ start manner, yet it never fully drops into silence as one or both tones are always at play. As a whole the track has quite nice a brooding beat-less industrial simmer to it, and I guess you’d call it either thinned or ambient HNW with a brooding industrial heart. So “The Heart Devour” at first brutalises and abuses you with crusty and unchanging wall-matter, then it slow sears and melts your head with sinister and unwell industrial tinged/thinned HNW. All in all it's a good split with both tracks nicely complementing each other well.
