Vomir - Portrait Series #6 [Turgid Animal - 2010]Number 6 of this noise labels Portrait Series offers up a short(by HNW standards) sharp, nasty & thick slice of wall making from the French master of Harsh Noise wall scene Vomir. Like the other releases in this series the cover has a drawing of the featured artist by Nicola Vinciguerra( the joint owner of Turgid Animal, and whos also in Fecalove & Splinter vs. Stalin). It’s rather stern & grim drawing of Vomir’s Romain black plastic bag covered head. Sonically on offer here is a single track that comes in at just under the 15 mintue mark; the 'wall' of sound is rather rapid, crusty & thickly crackling in it’s intent. It sounds like an amped-up & static bound recording of a broken pipe that’s continually spurting-out ice cold into a small metallic room. As you’d expect with anything that Vomir puts out this is rather unchanging & unforgiving in it’s feel, through it does have a nice active & rapid feel through-out & really the tracks rushers by in a quite a pleasing manner meaning it's all gone & finished before you know it(so of course you have to put it on again). Another very worthy, crusty, nasty & near unchanging wall of noise making from Vomir; which rewardingly locks out the world around you for it’s playing time. Roger Batty
