Vomir - Untitled [Rokot - 2009] | ‘Untitled’ is another fierce, impenetrable & thick slice of HNW making from the French master of the genre Vomir. This CDR offers up one long form slice of crusty & crunching wall making that slides in just under the hour mark. I’ll have to say in the past I’ve not been that keen on Vomir’s longer takes on Wall making prefer his shorter 20 to 30 minutes bombardments instead, but this untitled release on Russian label Rokot has really changed my mind. You see the sound wall he’s built here is more rewarding, hypnotic & grimly sucking in it’s intent that say the likes of his most know & available long form album Proanomie; but 'Untitled' left me rather captivating, wonderfully sonically tortured & harshly cocooned for most of it’s near on hour’s runtime. The wall it’s self is of a rather rapid, constantly boiling & slight crunching consistency which just keeps pour on and on in it’s near unchangble form; but I think it’s the constant feel of rushing forward movement & the crusty crunch of the track that makes it so rewarding. The disc comes with suitable bleak & barren artwork of black ink on brown paper with the front cover featuring a simplistic but effective drawing of a cleary dead person feet and a rather bleak landscape unfolding after the feet- the picture rather brought to mind a bleaker take on the line drawing from Burzum’s ‘Hvis Lyset Tar Oss’ album cover & it fits the tone of the track perfectly. ‘Untitled’ stands as one of Vomir’s greatest works thus far & one of the best long form pieces of hypotonic, crushing & thick wall making I’ve come across- truly you just want to stay buried in the sound & locked away from the world around you & humanity for as long as you can.
