Churner - Vulturistic [Violent Noise Atrocities - 2009]'Vulturistic' finds the ever versatile talents of Churner conjuring up one long track of atmospheric noise craft that’s best described as Sci-Fi noise drone matter meets power electronics elements. The forty two minute track on offer here is built with the use of : Various Peddles, contact microphones, An hacksaw, An Chalkboard, pencils, knifes, processers & vocals. The track starts off quite bleak & barrenly futuristic like with pulsing & thick drone/noise current which brings to mind a Blade Runner like city scape sky filled with chugging & erratic space cruisers. This drone noise current dies down for a moment around the two & a half minute mark before kick back in big time & becoming a lot thicker & less harmonic as Churner sound craft swims through processers purrs, oceanic roars, feedback bent harmonics, circling phases trail, ect. At around about the ten minute mark deep & pained vocal roars start been heard in the thick textured map of sounds and things just get dense more fierce & noisy from here on in as Churner just builds & builds the layers of screaming, tearin & roaring sound matter; with the vocals attack at times almost taking on a demonic robot type screams & bays. As with all great long form noise tracks it’s kept active, shifting yet very unforgiving, through it all you still get odd hints of the bleak & barren Sci-fi edge brewing to the surface. Another very rewarding & ear damaging work from Churner who once more shows he’s trying new things sonically with each new release. This would work as an ideal sonic companion while reading a very violent, deranged & paranoid soaked sci-fi novel. Roger Batty
