Nde - Krieg Blut Ehre Asche [Cold Spring - 2009]Nde are a two piece Belgian project & this is their debut album which is an ultra grim & unforgiving mixture of clamouring & often speedy lo-fi black metal, barren & evil martial drums, sometime ritual touched death industrial tone, & general noisy/ blacked matter. Most of the tracks here are unforgiving, dense & at times a little messy in there grim attack on your senses as (often all at once) you have: revved-up death industrial synth lines & electronics ravaged by bloody bounding martial drums & sampled damned angles like choirs that are sawn over by blunt, blacked & fast guitar tone, which are all topped off with guttural blacked vocals, gurgles & growls. The project has certainly quite a distinctive & often fairly original sound through-out; it’s just sometimes it seems too much is going-on which engulfs the atmosphere the trying to create. Never the less when it all seems more balanced & slightly more controlled the pair do summon-up this damned sort of medieval or dark ages atmosphere of barbaric & bone chilling warriors & demons bounding & desending to a blacked hell. So in summing up 'Krieg Blut Ehre Asche' is a clamouring, sometimes effective & atmospheric mixture of black metal, death industrial seer & grimness and hammering & flesh bounding martial drums. There’s certainly more than a bit of promise here they just need to try & guide their brand of chaos in a more controlled & focused manner. Roger Batty
