Go to the Rumpistol website  Rumpistol - Dynamo [Rump Recordings - 2008]

The fact that the imprint is called Rump Recordings leads to suspect that Rumpistol is the band of the label owner Jens Berents Christiansen, and indeed such is the case. The project started in 2003 and Dynamo is the third album.

From what seems to be a collection of scattered electronic bits and pieces, samples and synthesized sounds, a very rhythmic type of music arises. The mood is melancholic and mysterious. Sometimes jazzy (Rehux) but in Beito a guitar comes in which gives it a bit of an indie/rock feel. Generally Dynamo is very much electronic music with dance tendencies, but much to subtle and delicate to be labeled just 'dance'. The often used musicbox- or glockenspiel-type bellsounds are one reason, but also the ticks and crackles that make up the rhythmtracks obviously are the reason for that. A track like Космос is way too subdued and small, in spite of its unmistakable strong groove coming from the bassline primarily. Amidst all the electronics, you can also find an accordeon or dreamy strings or the guitar mentioned earlier, to add an organic touch to what's generally a quite digital affair.

Dynamo is very nice music, a beautifully constructed soundworld full of detail. Warm and dreamy, but still with a groove to tap your foot to. Typically music that's hard to label but to dream away on and surely to appreciated by people who are into the more cinematic types of modern (electronic) music.
