Hiroshi Hasegawa - Ascension no.999 [Steinklang International - 2008]

Ascension No.999  is a highly creative, shifting and psychedelic trip into noise matter from Hiroshi Hasegawa ( C.C.C.C, Astro, Mortal Vision, ect). Split over 2 long and devastating 20 plus minute tracks this really is nirvana for those who enjoy long form shifting Japanese noise.

Through there long sonic trawls the two tracks go from: overloaded and boiling space music, burning and ear melting seas of drone textures that are sometimes under washed by melted, stuck and corrupted easy listening or muzak. To stuck rhythmic chopping and cinematic noise saplings, on to electro scuttlings and shorting, to shifting through low deep noise matter, right up to teeth gritting and eye smarting highs. Really it’s breath taking the amount of  rewarding textural & shift in pace Hasegawa pulls out of his noise hat- keeping any noise fan entertained, brutalized and dizzy. With the albums artwork nicely topped off the package with some simply yet effective dark spacey shapes.

Really one hell of a near on hour noise trip alive with creativity, atmosphere, variation and of course searing noise. With out a doubt one of this years noise releasers and some of the most impressive work I’ve heard from Hasegawa in any of his many projects.
