Vilgoc & Inanition - Split [Gates Of Hypnos - 2025]Here’s a walled noise split bringing together two around thirty-minute tracks- from two of the longer running/ ten ten-year-plus active walled noise projects. Poland’s Vilgoc serves up a slab of thick pummelling and hiss-hazed walling, and the rather mysterious Inanition presents with a slice of rolling ‘n’ reeling wall-craft. The release is a digital affair, appearing on Poland’s Gate Of Hypnos. For the cover artwork, we have a moody/ close-up black and white photo of a bush.
So, first out of the gate, we have “41- No Hope” from Vilgoc. The thirty-three-minute ‘wall’ brings together a set ‘n’ ultra-thick bass rumble, a cluttering subtone-flow with the whole thing engulfed in searing and hope sucking hiss haze. The ‘wall’ feels akin to walking through a vast, seemingly endless, and tarry black tunnel- as you walk on & on, your shoes & socks wearing down, your shoulders bowed and arms limp at your side.
Next, we of course have the inanition track- this runs at nearly thirty-two minutes, and is entitled “Amplification of Dust Mite Consumption”. It opens up as a mix of rolling grey drone, low-key gallop, and bounding rush- as the track progresses, I’m making out more rattle, crusty slip & slide, as well as slight baying in its make over. Like the first track, this is a highly hope-numbing and grim wall, and it pummels away at you in an effective old-school manner.
If you're in the mood for truly unforgiving old-school wall craft that focuses on hope-draining sonic nihilism, this most certainly fits that description. Head here to check it out. Roger Batty
