Pyramid Dust - Event..... Collapse [Breaching Static - 2021]Blistering noise out of Dubuque, Iowa, Pyramid Dust drop Event.....Collapse as a fiery c12. A group side project of Boar's Alex Nowacki, this cassette channels the ferocious intensity of the mid 90's noise scene, played through the skilled and well-timed hand of a current noisier. Built with a brutal layer of low distortion, Event.....Collapse is a quick jaunt through a field of delightfully harsh electronics. The two unnamed tracks on Event are crushing, abrasive, and loud. In classic pile-on fashion, dense, distorted layers are stacked and writhe in a frenzy for space in the spectrum. Eschewing high pitched feedback squeals, Pyramid Dust utilizes tight, distortion oscillations to deliver their noisy decree and add a sense of rolling, electronic dread. Thick, metallic, and vicious, this sonic royal rumble will appeal to any fan of harsh electronics, especially those that were weaned on classics like Incapacitants - As Loud As Possible. On the second side, Pyramid Dust shows their skill at more of a cutting style of noise and their interest in fleshing out the sound instead of just full-on assault. There are spots of softness and breathing room amidst the chaos, and this approach helps to further the drive behind this c12. Also, the second side of this cassette appears to be a live set, so hearing everything being done at once and one take is refreshing as well.
Short but scraping and sweet, Pyramid Dust's Event.....Collapse is a tight and loud harsh noise cassette. Using many dense layers to crush forth, the outfit squeezes a lot of frequencies into a short amount of time. No cheap tricks here, only a love for heavy noise and crushing distortion.
