Dead Body Collection - Cold Love [Muzikaal Kabaal - 2012]“Cold Love” offers up a single slice of dense, chilling yet brutal, and compelling walled noise from this highly prolific Serbian project. The release comes in the form of a CDR, and features a single track that comes it at just over forty one minute mark. The track is built around an extremely dense & total impenetrable mixture of several layers of freezer juddering noise, & taut slightly crisper locked static jitterings. From time to time you get the odd almost glitch like single tone dart, but these are fairly rare & there also fairly buried with-in the ‘walls’ structure. For all it’s thick, chilling & bleak relentless attack there is something very hypnotic and addictive about this ‘wall’. And I’ll have to admit I’ve found myself playing this again & again, as it has such an appealingly brutal feel about it. More recently DBC releases have seen the project experiment more & more with the HNW genre’s sound, but “Cold Love” is somewhat of a return to the more fixed & brutal type of HNW this project was originally known for. That said you can also hear a more careful & precise feel with-in the ‘walls’ layer make-up which clearly comes from said experimentation. All told “Cold Love” is a very rewarding & replayable bit of dense ‘n’ bleakly brutal walled noise, and it certainty stands as one of my favourite recordings by this project. Roger Batty
