Premature Ejaculation - 6 [Malaise Music - 2011]Rozz Williams is best known as the lead singer/ song writer behind the original/ classic line up of Death Rock pioneers Christian Death. But he had a more edgy/experimental side too, and this came out under the project banner of Premature Ejaculation. 6 offers up a collection of 16 tracks that fall somewhere early industrial, tape loop based compositions, and grim/noisey avant garde. This was original released back in 2001 in a cdr format, and this new edition is in a pro cdr form. It’s unclearly exactly when the tape was recorded as the original was found in Williams effects after his death, but apparent they think it was recorded prior 1987. The Premature Ejaculation project was formed originally in 1981 with Williams & his boyfreind/ performance artists Ron Athey- the project only did two recordings Premature Ejaculation parts 1 & 2, then the project was put on ice due to Christian Death taking off. The project then reappeared again in 1987 with Athey departed & Williams been joined by Lee Wilds, Chuck Collison and Kris Fuller. The sixteen untitled tracks on offer here fall between just under the one minute twenty mark to just under the nine minute twenty mark. And the tracks are a very lo-fi, stripped & often crude mixture of corrupted & stuck easy listening or music loops, noisy tapes elements, battering industrial textures, looped dialogue samples that take in discussion about child abuse, preacher rants/other religious matter and medical based chatter. Though there’s nothing particularly original or distinctive about the work here, it does have some what of a monotonous grim/ black charm about it all. So if you enjoyed stark & lo-fi loop based music with old school industrial elements, or if you want to check out Mr. Williams more experimental side this is worth a look. To hear samples & pick this up drop in here. Roger Batty
