Gluttoness - Untitled [Inactivist Recordings - 2011]This new untitled release from Fairfax USA based Gluttoness finds the project offering up quite an untypical slice of lengthy, unmoving and boarding-on ambient HNW noise making. Usually this projects tracks are often short in length, and active /progressive in feeling so the near on 43 minute track that appears here is quite a departure for the project. The tracks ‘wall’ is a muddied, hazily cascading & oddly melancholically soothing mixture of slowed yet constantly rotating rumbling ‘n’ juddering noise textures. It feels like you’re either stuck inside a huge & constantly running food mixer that’s on a low speed setting and filled with a very thick ’n’ lumpy cake mixture. Or maybe a very slow motion and constant landslide inside an underground subterranean cavern. The ‘wall’ remains fixed ‘n’ deeply rumble bound through-out, and as the track progresses down it’s near on 45 minute sonic path you seem to get pulled deeper & deeper into the hypnotically churning repetition of the track. The only really change I noted through-out the track lenght was that the ‘wall’ seemed to become slightly more crusty ’n’ weathered towards the end of it’s life….but that could just be the ‘wall’ playing a trick on me. All told this CDR offers up an appealing, rumble bound slice of muddy ‘n’ pleasingly grim ambient HNW. Yet another great release from this always rewarding & progressive walled noise project.
