Pain - Rebirth [Stockholm Records - 2000]

Peter Tägrtren, who doesn´t know him? The producerwho gives every metal cd a nice touch of quality production. The man behind death metal band Hypocrisy, but also the man who could be on the poster in your sister´s bedroom. That is if your sister lives in Sweden and likes techno, electronic, poppy metal. Now this would not be so utterly strange, since in Sweden Peter´s project Pain is currently signed to Stockholm records (a major label from a band like The Cardigans), who could put his music into the charts. Now isn´t this the crown on everyones work? Get the recognistion which you deserveand earn enough money to make a living from your music. No, Peter is not a sell-out, he is just lucky and I think a man who works as hard as himdeserves this.

Well, the music is as good as I expected it to be.A mix between fast and furious metal, pop, techno and some electronics. It´s hard to come up with good songs these days in this style, but Pain still has some great tracks. One of my favourites is his first single 'The End of the Line' (from which the videoclip is also on my copy). Also the opener song 'Supersonic Bitch' is a nice metal/techno poppy song. Actually, you don´t have to be an intellectual to understandthe lyrics in the songs, they are simple but effective.

A negative aspect of the album is that some of the songs lack something. They get tedious and are compared to the better songs not much fish nor flesh. Also after some time the album won't be played much more and it will start to collect dust on the shelves. Still, if you like catchy and poppy metal with an electronic edge to it you might not go wrong with this album.
