Government Alpha - Tune Of Oblivion [Pointless Blank Records - 2008]

True to the albums title Government Alpha takes you  deep inside the roaring heart of Oblivion. An inferno roaring, earthquake ripping, tornado smashing sonic melt down of the most ferocious and devastating form.

Lasting in all just shy of the 45 minute mark & taking in three tracks, though really best taken as a whole (if one can bear it) as the tracks smash, bellow and crash into one another. It opens up with Penetration which is literally like opening the door to a hurricane at full strength as layers upon layers of overloaded rip, roaring and tearing sounds are let upon you. Deep down there’s an looped alarm type tone that really escalates the tension and urgency of the track, as the collection of sonic twists ripping to and throw ontop. The pace is kept tight and unforgiving as we are thrown into the next track Dig, which feels like having tones of earth thrown on top of you again and again.

The last track Oblivion slices into you ear carnels sounding like speeded up and overloaded electronic harmonic jingle from a sci-fi show, with a sinister drone/ toning quality at the base of the searing melting electronics. As the tracks progresses he add, builds & drags pitches of different tones and shades of noise in and out of the sound focus. This is the longest, most varied & layered track here. Going from complex boiling and rhythmic walls of sound, to crashing bellowing nuclear winds, to subterranean rubbles, to building collapse overloads, to eerier overloaded harmonic drones and purrs.

A highly effective unforgiving old school noise lesson for those who pine for Merzbow at his most violent, destructive and painful.Turn-up loud and burn out your ear drums- but act quick this is only an edition of 50 – check here for more info.
