Vapaa - Hum Hum Hum [Last Visble Dog - 2008]

Vapaa make rather gorgeous, dense and pleasantly smothering psychedelic/ drone/ improve rock slumbers peppered with all manner of other genre traits along each tracks slowly unfolding & dreamy path.

Vapaa come from Finland and are a loose collective but for this recording focus on the four main members; Joel Kivela, Tiitus Petajaniemi, Keijo Virtanen and Jari-Pekka Koho they have been playing togeather since 2003. As well as utilizing the expected guitars bass and organ/ synth package- they also embrace and mix in instrumental flavours such as flute , subdued horn weaves and even a bagpipes. The  five  tracks on offer last around the 10 minute mark each, with each track being hypnotic and heady  brew with often quite mystically undertones & more often then not  licked by a harmonic and pleasant air. With  only the last two tracks taking up more of a clunking, noisy and discordant tone.

A fine and rounded album thats primed for drifted off into in a semi- stoned like state with enough interesting instrumental flavours, textures and twist ‘n’ turns to make you want to this return often.
