Wormb - God Himself Had Disavowed Theology [Self release - 2023]God Himself Had Disavowed Theology is a greyly searing and brutally crude example of nihilistic HNW. The single track comes in at the forty-seven-minute mark, and it remains unrelenting in its staring into the void numbness for it's full runtime. Wormb is a project from Thunder Bay Ontario. It’s been active since 2017- with coming up for seventy releases to its name. In the year 2020 it was extremely prolific- putting out a large chunk of its discography in that year. As far as I recall this is my first taster on the project- and as raging-yet-if-simplistic wall noise- this isn’t bad.
The single track is entitled “... And The Church Founded Upon It”, and this comes in at the 47.11 mark. The ‘wall’ kicks straight into a densely impenetrable state- and remains there for its near on fifty-minute runtime. It brings together a rapidly flowing searing swirl- this is topped by a continuous & thinner selection of cluttering ‘n’ juddering tones. There is a feeling of air-roasting intensity to the whole thing- with one getting images of a tinny human figure teetering on the edge of a vast void- where swarming blooms of blackly searing fire and suffocating/ oppressive smoke clog meet.
So this is a wall release for those who enjoy getting well ‘n’ truly engulfed by harsh noise wall. As with much of the scenes output these days-this appears as a digital download release, available from the projects bandcamp page here. Roger Batty
