Niacinamide - The Eyes Of Ages [Dyning Monolith HNW - 2025]The Eyes Of Ages is a twenty-minute track, which merges thick droning & rattling wall noise, with an eerier/ unsettling undercarriage of ambience/ woozy pitch shift. This is a NYC based project that’s been active since the late 2010’s This is a digital release on South Carolina’s wall-noise-only label Dyning Monolith HNW. For the cover art, we have a simple, but effective enough monochrome picture of a cloud-dense sunset. The release can be found here
The single track runs at just over the twenty-one-minute mark. It’s built around a ‘wall’ of low-end/ rapid droning, which has a distant rattling texture running through it. Around the edges of this wall, we have a blend of a distant-sounding slow noose swinging pitch swift, and uneasy ambience churn/ebb.
The track balances well its blunt wall tones, with more mysterious/ unsettling pitch swinging & ambient elements. With the noise elements pulling you in, then the other elements hook you back for relistens- so you try to map exactly what's going on.
If you like your battering/ bleak ‘walls’ edged with a sense of disquiet and low-fi unease, then The Eyes Of Ages is for. And I’ll most certainly be checking out more of Niacinamide work. Roger Batty
