Ordem Satânica - Perpetuum Satanas [Signal Rex - 2023]Ordem Satânica is a Portuguese black metal act with members belonging to the clandestine Aldebaran Circle along with projects such as Degredo, Espírito Aldebaran, Ginnungagap, Lycanthropic Winter Moon, Mallitiae, Nox Insultum, Occelensbrigg, Stagnat, Trono Além Morte and Voëmmr. Their first demo Ataque Satânico appeared back in 2014, followed by 2015 Carrascos da Humanidade and so on, amassing a total of three demos, five split releases, one EP and four full-lengths; quite prolific!. Perpetuum Satanas was originally released in 2022 via Signal Rex on cassette and now it is re-released on vinyl, again via Signal Rex. Sadistically crude black metal, incorporating heavy metal riffs along with the anticipated black metal counterparts, thrash/punk drums and penetrating vocals, mostly raw but theatrical in times. While the compositions are very well structured, chaos rapidly obscures everything due to the nature of sound production, which does wonders with Ordem Satânica’s material. Typical old-school black metal that never gets boring or irrelevant, an album recorded with the qualities of a demo from the late 80s and that approach is truly elevating the already charged tracks.
Eight pieces of fully distorted output. The distortion is extending to several peaked parts, with (thankfully) non-existent brickwall, a quite harsh sound that had to be constantly in the red marks of the VU meters while recording!. Minimal yet obliterating riffs executed wonderfully, monolithic drums pounding endlessly and an atmosphere of septic claustrophobia that consumes everything with its forsaken beauty.
Perpetuum Satanas has everything you need to punch your head against your speakers again and again. Though caution, Ordem Satânica has a very opium-like pull. Karl Grümpe
