SLOWGURN - Tendrils [Death To Dynamics - 2026]Tendrils is a recently released slab of extremely grim and rapidly grinding walled noise from this UK-based project. The just over twenty-minute track is focused on creating a stark, weathered, and unforgiving vibe, which is mirrored by the artwork that features a picture of a barren/ leafless tree. This is self released digital affair, which can be found just here.
The single ‘wall’ featured here is centred around a blend of rapidly galloping grind/ cluttering, which is focused towards the low and mid tone pallet. At around the sixth minute, you can make out another layer of more scratching, dragging, and bashing tones, which very much link into the cover art, bringing to the 'wall' rapidly jerking branches, tearing/ ripping bark sounds, etc.
All in all, this is a very brutal, yet kind of compelling ‘wall’ with the main/ set tones pinning you down, then the shifting map of other textures keeping you locked in. It must be a year or two since I last reviewed and checked out SLOWGURN, and I like what I’m hearing here. Roger Batty
