Sinemis' Dua is a concise thirty-minute collection of short atmospheric electronic pieces.  They could be described as modern classical, downtempo or art ambient, with tuneful choral pads, string synths and piano.  Each of the seven tracks contains strong, strident melodies and resolves within about four minutes, similar in structure to old synthesizer LPs from artists like Jean Michel Jarre.

The mood is melancholy and cinematic, the chord changes feel heavy with emotional weight.  The rainy tone and minor key darkwave progressions could be compared to The Cure, or classic releases from 4AD records, but as this music contains no vocals, it remains in a more abstract realm.  

Symphonic in its constant tonal developments and intelligently layered synthetic orchestration, it is some of the deepest and most emotionally resonant active synthesizer compositions I've encountered.  It has a richly luminous, immersive production with an inviting wide stereo field, correctly utilizing modern tools to bring out the full richness of vintage analog gear.

There's a vivid immediacy in which each moment drives forward the direction of the entirety, and feels meaningful.  It is the full realization of what artists like Raison D'etre began in the 90s, and more recently could be compared to artists like Alpha Wave Movement, Alluste or Kyle Bobby Dunn, but with more of an active quality.

Following the album's symphonic beginnings, "Flow" and "Only Breath" drift a bit into a kind of spacious droning ether, sounding like Robert Rich or Alio Die.

The majority of the album is beatless, with only punctuated synth lines to carry the rhythm.  Towards the end of the album, though, there's a pair of tracks ("The Bazaar", "In the End") with dubby electronic percussion, and the tone shifts slightly towards a hedonistic lounge room energy, and artists like Solar Fields, Biosphere or Global Communication.  These tracks are absolute beauties, possibly my favourite music on the album.

Ambient of a kind but never slow-paced, this is a lush and expressive melodic electronic work.  Its tuneful, emotionally direct approach synthesizes together all forms of modern ambient music, bridging the gap between dub/downtempo, classical soundtrack music and traditional ambient while remaining easily listenable.  Perfectly balanced in its many skillfully arranged elements, it's one of my favourite albums of recent memory.
