Mlehst - Female Female Female [Karo Productions. - 2022]Female Female Female is a recent(ish) four-track album from British project Mlehst. Sonically we move unease and oppressive drone blends, onto sinisterly jittering-to-whistling atmospheric electro texturing, through to sparsely choppy ‘n’ discordant ambient electronica. Mlehst (aka All Brentnall) was first active between the early 1990s and early 2000s. Then took a few years out and returned in 2005. The project has nearly one hundred and eighty releases to its name, and I must say I’ve enjoyed all of what I’ve heard from the project- so it’s certainly one of the more reliable British projects, which sits somewhere between unease ambience & more seared electro texturing. The CD album moves from broodingly cold electro chop-then-fade of the title track. Onto bleakly glowing ‘n’ lightly glitching mid-range pitch drift -to-chilling metallic reverb clutter of "Japanese Widow". With the album being topped off with eerier warbling ambient meets slightly serrated tonal judder of "La Reyne Le Veult".
Female Female Female is another consistent and chilling impactful album from Mlehst. With the CD packaging featuring rather eerier photos of unsmiling 1920s female glamour models, which nicely links into the album's title/ theme. Roger Batty
