Sado Rituals/Sebastian Tomb - Samhain [Gates Of Hypnos - 2022]Samhain is a two-track wall noise release celebrating this spooky and horror-fed time of year. Both tracks run around the ten-minute mark- the first project featured here is Poland’s Sado Rituals, and the second is Berlin's Sebastian Tomb. The release appears as a digital-only affair on Poland’s Gates of Hypno. For the cover art we get a 1950’s picture of a sat on a cheeky smiling woman on a hay bale, with a cartoon-faced pumpkin.
Both tracks here are untitled- and first up we have the Sado Rituals track- which runs spot on the ten-minute mark. Here we find a blend of hazed bass buzzers, static grain judder, and chalky clutter. There’s a nice feeling of both urgency and subtle brooding unease about the track's flow- with an undercurrent of dusty industrial persistency to the whole track.
Next, we of course have the Sebastian Tomb track- and this runs at the nine and fifty mark. It opens with a few seconds of a woman talking about something/ someone knocking on first one window, then another. Then we move into a bothersome ‘n’ baying mixture of the low-end billow, and slightly jitter mids and highs. The whole wall has a simplistic if neat feeling of murky battering to its attack.
Samhain is a short but brutally moody wall noise split for the season of the witch, pumpkin, ghost, and ghoul. To check it out for yourself drop by here
